A dictionary that studies with you.

Exam Vocabulary started as a frustration: every standardized-test prep app treated vocabulary like a list to memorize, not a language to inhabit. We built the opposite.

01

Why we exist

Standardized tests gate enormous decisions — graduate school, MBA admission, work visas, scholarships. Vocabulary is one of the few sections where every additional word you actually internalize is one more point you almost certainly recover.

But the way most apps teach vocabulary — endless flashcards, no context, no etymology, no examples that stick — wastes time. We wanted something better: a real dictionary, exam-tagged, with AI you can ask anything.

02

What we built

A free, offline-first app for iOS and Android. 4,500+ curated words across GRE, GMAT, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, ACT, and CAT. Each word has full lexicographic depth — IPA, etymology, multiple senses, examples, synonyms, antonyms, and a memorable mnemonic.

Layered on top: six AI-powered study tools (Solve, Vision, Quiz, Recite, AI Tips & Tricks, Learning Mode), structured progression with XP and streaks, and a curated library of expert prompt categories. Pick the model you trust on any given question — Gemini, ChatGPT, or Claude.

03

How we make money

Honestly. The app is free with a baseline of AI queries. Premium is a one-time purchase — no subscription, ever — and unlocks unlimited AI, removes ads, and includes the bonus word collection. You pay once, you own it.

We do not sell your data. We do not run a recommendation engine. We are a vocabulary app — that is the whole product.
